Let not your God on whom you trust encourage you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.

Be strong and courageous, and fear not, neither be dismayed before the king of Assyria, and before all the nation that [is] with him: for [there are] more with us than with him.

With him [are] arms of flesh, but with us [is] the Lord our God to save [us], and to fight our battle. And the people were encouraged at the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

Though the Mighty One should lay [His] hand upon me, forasmuch as He has begun, verily I will speak, and plead before Him.

Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things in them; who keeps truth forever;

But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.

And he shall be as a thriving tree by the waters, and he shall cast forth his root toward a moist place. He shall not fear when heat comes, and there shall be shady branches upon him; he shall not fear in a year of drought, and he shall not fail to bear fruit.

There was no king like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his strength, according to all the Law of Moses; and after him there rose none like him.

And Asa cried to the Lord his God, and said, O Lord, it is not impossible with You to save by many or by few: strengthen us, O Lord our God; for we trust in You, and in Your name we have come up against this great multitude. O Lord our God, let not man prevail against You.

And at that time Hanani the prophet came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, Because you have trusted on the king of Syria, and did not trust on the Lord your God, therefore the army of Syria has escaped out of your hand.

And they rose early in the morning and went out to the Wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and cried, and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; put your trust in the Lord God, and your trust shall be honored; trust in His prophet, and you shall prosper.

And afterwards Jehoshaphat king of Judah entered into an alliance with Ahaziah king of Israel, (now this was an unrighteous man)
