And Leah said, [Is it] not enough for you that you have taken my husband, will you also take my son's mandrakes? And Rachel said, Not so: let him lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes.

Is it a little thing for you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, and brought you near to Himself to minister in the services of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the tabernacle to minister for them?

And he said, Hear now, O house of David; is it a little thing for you to contend with men? And how do you contend against the Lord?

And He said to me, Son of man, you have seen this. [Is it] a trivial thing to the house of Judah to practice the iniquities which they have practiced here? For they have filled the land with iniquity; and behold, these are as scorners.

And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore, and sacrificed [these] to them to be destroyed. You went a-whoring as [if that were] little,

Yet notwithstanding you have not walked in their ways, neither have you done according to their iniquities within a little, but you have exceeded them in all your ways.

And [is it] not enough for you that you fed on the good pasture, that you trampled with your feet the remnant of your pasture? And [that] you drank the standing water, [and that] you disturbed the residue with your feet?

[ 6:3] that the sons of God, having seen the daughters of men, that they were beautiful, took to themselves wives of all whom they chose.

neither shall you contract marriages with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter to your son.

For he will draw away your son from Me, and he will serve other gods; and the Lord will be very angry with you, and will soon utterly destroy you.

For if you shall turn aside and attach yourselves to these nations that are left with you, and make marriages with them, and become mingled with them and they with you,

know that the Lord will no more destroy these nations from before you; and they will be to you snares and stumbling blocks, and nails in your heels, and darts in your eyes, until you are destroyed from off this good land, which the Lord your God has given you.

And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, [and] of Moab.

And I strove with them and cursed them; and I struck some of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, [saying,] You shall not give your daughters to their sons, and you shall not take of their daughters to your sons.

So we will not hearken to you to do all this evil, to break covenant with our God, to marry strange wives.

Remember them, O God, for their [false] connection with the priesthood, and [the breaking] the covenant of the priesthood, and [for defiling] the Levites.

And it came to pass when Jezabel had killed the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifties in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.

And now send, gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and the four hundred and fifty prophets of shame, and the four hundred prophets of the groves, that eat [at] Jezebel's table.

And Ahab told Jezebel his wife all that Elijah [had] done, and how he [had] slain the prophets with the sword.

And Jezebel sent to Elijah, and said, If you are Elijah and I am Jezebel, God do so to me and more also, if I do not make your life by this time tomorrow as the life of one of them!

And Jezebel his wife went in to him, and spoke to him, [saying], Why [is] your spirit troubled, and [why] do you eat no bread?

And Jezebel his wife said to him, Do you now thus act [this way, being] king over Israel? Arise, and eat bread, and be your own [master], and I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

And it was written in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth in a chief place among the people.

And the men of his city, the elders, and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezabel sent to them, and as it had been written in the letters which she sent to them.

And two men, sons of transgressors, came in, and sat opposite him, and bore witness against him, saying, You have 6blasphemed God and the king. And they led him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, and he died.

Now when Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel has heard [of it], and colored her eyes, and adorned her head, and looked out through the window.

And he lifted up his face toward the window, and saw her, and said, Who are you? Come down with me. And two eunuchs looked down towards him.

And [Jehu] went in and ate and drank, and said, Look after this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king's daughter.

And they returned and told him. And he said, [It is] the word of the Lord, which He spoke by the hand of Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel.

But I have [this] against you, that you tolerate your wife Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit fornication and eat things sacrificed to idols.

And King Solomon was a lover of women. And he took strange women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh, Moabite and Ammonite women, Syrians and Edomites, Hittites and Amorites;

and from the Sidonians, and Amalek, and Midian, who afflicted you? And you cried to Me, and I saved you out of their hand?

And the five men went on, and came to Laish; and they saw the people in the midst of it dwelling securely, at ease as is the manner of the Sidonians, and there is no one perverting or shaming a matter in the land, nor an heir extorting treasures; and they are far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with anyone.

And it came to pass in the time of Solomon's old age, that his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as [was] the heart of David his father.

And Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he went not after the Lord, as David his father.

And thus he acted towards all his strange wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their idols.

But Ahab [did] wickedly, in that he sold himself to do that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his wife Jezebel led him astray.

And he did very abominably in following after the abominations, according to all that the Amorite did, whom the Lord utterly destroyed from before the children of Israel.

And the children of Israel did evil before the Lord, and served Baalam.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baalam and the groves.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalam, and Ashtoreth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the Lord, and did not serve Him.

And Jehu gathered all the people and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu shall serve him much.

They forsook the commandments of the Lord their God, and made themselves graven images, [even] two heifers, and they made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
