And David went up by the ascent of [the Mount of] Olives, ascending and weeping, and had his head covered, and went barefoot. And all the people that were with him,[every man,] covered his head; and they went up, ascending and weeping.
And the king was troubled, and went to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And thus he said as he went, My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! I [pray] God I had died for you, [even] I [had died] for you, Absalom, my son, my son!
