And the king, and all the people with him, came away and refreshed themselves there.

And her husband went with her weeping behind her as far as Bahurim. And Abner said to him, Go, return; and he returned.

But a young man saw them and told Absalom: and the two went quickly, and entered into the house of a man in Bahurim; and he had a well in his court, and they went down into it.

And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, made haste and went down with the men of Judah to meet King David.

and they performed the service of bringing the king over; and a ferryboat went across to move the household of the king, and to do that which was right in his eyes. And Shimei the son of Gera fell on his face before the king, as he went over the Jordan,

And behold, [there is] with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim: and he cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went into the camp; and he came down to the Jordan to meet me, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put you to death with the sword.

But you shall by no means hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man, and will know what you shall do to him, and shall bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave.

And the king called Shimei, and said to him, Build yourself a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and you shall not go out from there anywhere.

And Shimei said to the king, Good [is] the word that you have spoken, my lord O king: thus will your servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem three years.

And Shimei rose up, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath, to Achish, to seek out his servants. And Shimei went, and brought his servants out of Gath.

And the king sent and called Shimei, and said to him, Did I not adjure you by the Lord, and testify to you, saying, In whatsoever day you shall go out of Jerusalem, and go to the right or left, know certainly that you shall surely die?

And the king said to Shimei, You know all your mischief which your heart knows, which you did to David my father; and the Lord has recompensed your mischief on your [own] head.

You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people.

And the Philistine said to David, Am I as a dog, that you come against me with a staff and stones? And David said, No, but worse than a dog. And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

because they persecuted him whom You have smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds.

Because he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the needy and poor man, [that] he might even slay the broken in heart.

Yea, he put on cursing as a garment, and it has come as water into his bowels, and as oil into his bones.

As birds and sparrows fly, so a curse shall not come upon anyone without a cause.

Even in your conscience, curse not the king; and curse not the rich in your bedchamber; for a bird of the air shall carry your voice, and that which has wings shall report your speech.

And famine shall come sorely upon you, and it shall come to pass, [that] when you shall be hungry, you shall be grieved, and you shall speak evil of the prince and of your fathers' ordinances; and they shall look up to heaven above,

"Blessed are you whenever they revile you, and they persecute you, and they say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
