And David answered Jonathan, and said, Your father knows surely that I have found grace in your sight, and he said, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he refuse his consent. But as the Lord lives, and your soul lives, as I said, there is but [a step] between me and death.

And now my lord, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, as the Lord has kept you from coming against innocent blood and from executing vengeance for yourself, now therefore let your enemies, and those that seek evil against my lord, become as Nabal.

And Elijah said to Elisha, Stay here, please; for God has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said, [As] the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you; so they came to Bethel.

And Elijah said to Elisha, Stay here, please; for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, [As] the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And they came to Jericho.

And Elijah said to him, Stay here please, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan. And Elisha said, [As] the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And they both went on.

And the mother of the child said, [As] the Lord lives and [as] your soul lives, I will not leave you. And Elisha arose, and went after her.

And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following you; for wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people [shall be] my people, and your God my God.

And wherever you die, I will die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, [if I leave you], for death [only] shall divide between me and you.

A friend loves at all times, and let brothers be useful in distress, for on this account are they born.

Then a certain scribe approached, and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."

And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

From this [time] many of His disciples turned back and no longer would walk with Him.

But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

who, arriving and seeing the grace of God, was glad, and encouraged them all with purpose of heart to continue with the Lord,

Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, in behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus."

I do not speak to condemn you; for I have said before that you are in our hearts, so that we die together and we live together.
