And to Joseph were born two sons, before the seven years of famine came, which Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.

And Joseph called the name of the firstborn, Manasseh; for God, [he said], has made me forget all my toils, and all my father's house.

And he called the name of the second, Ephraim; for God, [he said], has increased me in the land of my humiliation.
Genesis 48:4
and said to me, Behold, I will increase you, and multiply you, and will make of you a multitude of nations; and I will give this land to you, and to your seed after you, for an everlasting possession.

These [are] the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.

These [are] the families of Ephraim according to their numbering: thirty-two thousand five hundred. These [are] the families of the children of Joseph according to their families.
Deuteronomy 33:13-17

And to Joseph he said, His land [is] of the blessing of the Lord, of the seasons of sky and dew, and of the deeps of wells below,

and of the fruits of the changes of the sun in season, and of the produce of the months,

from the top of the ancient mountains, and from the top of the everlasting hills,

And his daughter [was] Sheerah, and he was among them that were left, and he built Beth Horon the Upper and the Lower. And the descendants of Ozan [were] Sheerah,

Rephah his son, Resheph and Telah his sons, and Tahan his son.

Nun [his] son, and Joshua his son.

And their possession and their dwelling [were] Bethel and her towns, to the east Naaran, to the west Gezer and her towns, and Shechem and her towns, as far as Gaza and her towns.

And as far as the borders of the sons of Manasseh, Beth Shean and her towns, Taanach and her towns, Megiddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In this the children of Joseph the son of Israel dwelt.
