Then I praised mirth, because there is no good for a man under the sun, but to eat, and drink, and be merry. And this shall attend him in his labor all the days of his life, which God has given him under the sun.

but they engaged in joy and gladness, slaying calves, and killing sheep, so as to eat flesh, and drink wine; saying, Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.

If, in the manner of men, I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what is the benefit to me? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"

Moreover they despised the desirable land, and did not believe His word.

And the Lord said to me, Drop them into the furnace, and I will see if it is good metal, as I was proved for their sakes. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them into the furnace in the house of the Lord.

"But not caring, they went away, one to his own field, another to his business.

and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?" And they weighed out for him thirty silver [coins].

But they all with one [accord] began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, 'I bought a field, and I must go and see it. I ask you, have me excused.'

Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'

"Behold, you despisers, and marvel and perish! For I will work a work in your days which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you.'"

For many walk, of whom often I was speaking to you, and now even weeping I tell you, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ:

whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who are mindful of earthly things.

lest there be any fornicator or profane [person] like Esau, who in exchange for one meal gave up his birthright.

For you know that indeed afterward, wishing to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, having sought it out diligently with tears.
