By faith he migrated into a land of promise as [in] a foreign [land], dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise;

And Jacob came to Salem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he departed out of Mesopotamia of Syria, and took up a position in front of the city.

And Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of the land, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her.

And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which is in Shechem, and destroyed them to this day.

And Joshua separated Kadesh in Galilee in the mountains of Nephthali, and Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and the city of Arba; this is Hebron, in the mountains of Judah.

And the children of Israel brought up the bones of Joseph out of Egypt, and buried [them] in Shechem, in the portion of the land which Jacob bought of the Amorites who dwelt in Shechem for a hundred ewe lambs; and he gave it to Joseph for a portion.

And Abimelech son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem, to his mother's brothers; and he spoke to them and to all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,

Therefore He came to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near the piece of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

And they were brought back to Shechem, and were placed in the tomb which Abraham bought for a price of silver from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.

Behold, are not these beyond the Jordan, behind, westward in the land of Canaan, which lies westward near Gilgal, beside the terebinth trees of Moreh?

And Jerubbaal rose early, (that is, Gideon) and all the people with him, and encamped at the fountain of Harod; and the camp of Midian was to the north of him, [reaching] from the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

And Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and the Hittite,

and the Aradian, and the Samarean, and the Amathite; and after this the tribes of the Canaanites were dispersed.

And the boundaries of the Canaanites were from Sidon till one comes to Gerar and Gaza, till one comes to Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle, and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites then inhabited the land.

In that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates.

the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
