     Christians wonder how could Jesus be born of a virgin yet not be the Son of God?  Muslims respond that according to the Koran

3:59:  “Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam.  He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: ‘Be!’ --and he was.”  According to Muslims, just as Adam was without a father or mother, Jesus was created without a father, but that does not make him the Son of God any more than Adam was the Son of God. 

     The Bible also compares Jesus to Adam but recognizes the critical difference 1 Corinthians 15:45-47:  “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

   The Koran in affirming that Jesus is merely in the likeness of Adam states:  “(This is) the truth from your Lord, so be of those who doubt.  Then whoever disputes with you concerning Jesus after (all this) knowledge that has come to you [i.e.(Jesus) being a slave of Allah, and having no share in Divinity], say: (O Muhammad) ‘Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves--then we pray and invoke (sincerely) the Curse of Allah upon those who lie (Koran 3:60-1).”
