If God took back the breath of life,

then everyone living would die and turn into dust again.

When you turn away, they are afraid; when you take away your breath, they die and go back to the dust from which they came.

When they die, they return to the dust; on that day all their plans come to an end.

Our bodies will return to the dust of the earth, and the breath of life will go back to God, who gave it to us.

Put no more confidence in mortals. What are they worth?

Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father! In your hands I place my spirit!" He said this and died.

They kept on stoning Stephen as he called out to the Lord, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"

He knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, "Lord! Do not remember this sin against them!" He said this and died.

My friends, what good is it for one of you to say that you have faith if your actions do not prove it? Can that faith save you?

So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead.

You fool! Do you want to be shown that faith without actions is useless?
