Numbers 32:39-42

The clan of Machir son of Manasseh invaded the land of Gilead, occupied it, and drove out the Amorites who were there.

So Moses gave Gilead to the clan of Machir, and they lived there.

Jair, of the tribe of Manasseh, attacked and captured some villages and named them "Villages of Jair."

Nobah attacked and captured Kenath and its villages, and he renamed it Nobah, after himself.

Moses had given a part of the land to the families of half the tribe of Manasseh as their possession.

Their territory extended to Mahanaim and included all of Bashan---the whole kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, as well as all sixty of the villages of Jair in Bashan.

It included half of Gilead, as well as Ashtaroth and Edrei, the capital cities of Og's kingdom in Bashan. All this was given to half the families descended from Machir son of Manasseh.

The people of East Manasseh settled in the territory of Bashan as far north as Baal Hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon, and their population increased greatly.

The following were the heads of their clans: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were all outstanding soldiers, well-known leaders of their clans.

But the people were unfaithful to the God of their ancestors and deserted him to worship the gods of the nations whom God had driven out of the land.

So God caused Emperor Pul of Assyria (also known as Tiglath Pileser) to invade their country. He deported the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh and settled them permanently in Halah, Habor, and Hara, and by the Gozan River.
