As the members of the Council listened to Stephen, they became furious and ground their teeth at him in anger.

The people listened to Paul until he said this; but then they started shouting at the top of their voices, "Away with him! Kill him! He's not fit to live!"

The whole crowd cried out, "Kill him! Set Barabbas free for us!"

They shouted back, "Kill him! Kill him! Crucify him!" Pilate asked them, "Do you want me to crucify your king?" The chief priests answered, "The only king we have is the Emperor!"
