At once the believers sent Paul away to the coast; but both Silas and Timothy stayed in Berea.

But one night Saul's followers took him and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.

Then the commander called two of his officers and said, "Get two hundred soldiers ready to go to Caesarea, together with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen, and be ready to leave by nine o'clock tonight.

Provide some horses for Paul to ride and get him safely through to Governor Felix."

Rahab lived in a house built into the city wall, so she let the men down from the window by a rope.

"Go into the hill country," she said, "or the king's men will find you. Hide there for three days until they come back. After that, you can go on your way."

She let him down from a window, and he ran away and escaped.

When Saul's men came to get David, Michal told them that he was sick.

They went inside and found the household idol in the bed and the goats' hair pillow at its head.

Then Jonathan said to David, "God be with you. The LORD will make sure that you and I, and your descendants and mine, will forever keep the sacred promise we have made to each other." Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.

But when the Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul had preached the word of God in Berea also, they came there and started exciting and stirring up the mobs.

Sopater son of Pyrrhus, from Berea, went with him; so did Aristarchus and Secundus, from Thessalonica; Gaius, from Derbe; Tychicus and Trophimus, from the province of Asia; and Timothy.

According to his usual habit Paul went to the synagogue. There during three Sabbaths he held discussions with the people, quoting

When the apostles learned about it, they fled to the cities of Lystra and Derbe in Lycaonia and to the surrounding territory.

There they preached the Good News.

You know how we had already been mistreated and insulted in Philippi before we came to you in Thessalonica. And even though there was much opposition, our God gave us courage to tell you the Good News that comes from him.
