"I am the bread of life," Jesus told them. "Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty.

This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, but then later died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."

and those who live and believe in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

For you gave him authority over all people, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him.

And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

they will never be hungry or thirsty. Sun and desert heat will not hurt them, for they will be led by one who loves them. He will lead them to springs of water.

For sin pays its wage---death; but God's free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them,

whoever believes in me should drink. As the scripture says, 'Streams of life-giving water will pour out from his side.' "

Jesus said this about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were going to receive. At that time the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not been raised to glory.

The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life---life in all its fullness.

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever.

"When I go, you will not be left all alone; I will come back to you.

So then, just as sin ruled by means of death, so also God's grace rules by means of righteousness, leading us to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God's Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God's children.

Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ's suffering, we will also share his glory.

who has placed his mark of ownership upon us, and who has given us the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the guarantee of all that he has in store for us.

And you also became God's people when you heard the true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ, and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had promised.

The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised his people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to those who are his. Let us praise his glory!

And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will come when God will set you free.

Now that by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves and have come to have a sincere love for other believers, love one another earnestly with all your heart.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God---in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.
