His parents were astonished when they saw him, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been terribly worried trying to find you."

How I love to do your will, my God! I keep your teaching in my heart."

The LORD Almighty answers, "I will send my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then the Lord you are looking for will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger you long to see will come and proclaim my covenant."

Jesus went into the Temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the stools of those who sold pigeons,

and he ordered those who sold the pigeons, "Take them out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!"

His disciples remembered that the scripture says, "My devotion to your house, O God, burns in me like a fire."

"My food," Jesus said to them, "is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do.

Jesus answered them, "My Father is always working, and I too must work."

because I have come down from heaven to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him."

As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me; night is coming when no one can work.
