Then Lot went to the men that his daughters were going to marry, and said, "Hurry up and get out of here; the LORD is going to destroy this place." But they thought he was joking.

Then Jacob gave him some bread and some of the soup. He ate and drank and then got up and left. That was all Esau cared about his rights as the first-born son.

Then they rejected the pleasant land, because they did not believe God's promise.

They stayed in their tents and grumbled and would not listen to the LORD.

To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the LORD. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and refuse to learn.

I have been calling you, inviting you to come, but you would not listen. You paid no attention to me.

You have ignored all my advice and have not been willing to let me correct you.

But others made fun of the believers, saying, "These people are drunk!"

But as Paul went on discussing about goodness, self-control, and the coming Day of Judgment, Felix was afraid and said, "You may leave now. I will call you again when I get the chance."

Or perhaps you despise his great kindness, tolerance, and patience. Surely you know that God is kind, because he is trying to lead you to repent.

How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.

The seeds that fell among thorn bushes stand for those who hear the message; but the worries about this life and the love for riches choke the message, and they don't bear fruit.

In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat;

yet they did not realize what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes.

But they all began, one after another, to make excuses. The first one told the servant, 'I have bought a field and must go and look at it; please accept my apologies.'

Another one said, 'I have just gotten married, and for that reason I cannot come.'

As it was in the time of Noah so shall it be in the days of the Son of Man.

It will be as it was in the time of Lot. Everybody kept on eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.

That is how it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

Remember Lot's wife!

To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.

they will be treacherous, reckless, and swollen with pride; they will love pleasure rather than God;

Do not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you do not love the Father.

Everything that belongs to the world---what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of---none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world.
