Jesus looked around and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, so he asked Philip, "Where can we buy enough food to feed all these people?"

(He said this to test Philip; actually he already knew what he would do.)

They fail to see why they were defeated; they cannot understand what happened.

The LORD kills and restores to life; he sends people to the world of the dead and brings them back again.

Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, in the same way the Son gives life to those he wants to.

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die;

and those who live and believe in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Why do you who are here find it impossible to believe that God raises the dead?

as the scripture says, "I have made you father of many nations." So the promise is good in the sight of God, in whom Abraham believed---the God who brings the dead to life and whose command brings into being what did not exist.

We felt that the death sentence had been passed on us. But this happened so that we should rely, not on ourselves, but only on God, who raises the dead.

From such terrible dangers of death he saved us, and will save us; and we have placed our hope in him that he will save us again,

Abraham reckoned that God was able to raise Isaac from death---and, so to speak, Abraham did receive Isaac back from death.
