They will run out of bread and water; they will be in despair, and they will waste away because of their sins."

The LORD spoke to me. "Mortal man," he said, "repeat to the Israelites what they are saying: 'We are burdened with our sins and the wrongs we have done. We are wasting away. How can we live?'

The few of you who survive in the land of your enemies will waste away because of your own sin and the sin of your ancestors.

We are frightened and distressed. We long for God to save us from oppression and wrong, but nothing happens.
