I heard the noise their wings made in flight; it sounded like the roar of the sea, like the noise of a huge army, like the voice of Almighty God. When they stopped flying, they folded their wings,

Then he led me to the outer courtyard and showed me that in each of its four corners there was a smaller courtyard, 68 feet long and 48 feet wide.

All these buildings and the great court were made of fine stones from the foundations to the eaves. The stones were prepared at the quarry and cut to measure, with their inner and outer sides trimmed with saws.

They made an inner courtyard for the priests, and also an outer courtyard. The doors in the gates between the courtyards were covered with bronze.

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud appeared on the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast was heard. All the people in the camp trembled with fear.

The sound of the trumpet became louder and louder. Moses spoke, and God answered him with thunder.

When the people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast and saw the lightning and the smoking mountain, they trembled with fear and stood a long way off.

They said to Moses, "If you speak to us, we will listen; but we are afraid that if God speaks to us, we will die."

Tell them how the LORD spoke to you from the fire, how you heard him speaking but did not see him in any form at all.

He told you what you must do to keep the covenant he made with you---you must obey the Ten Commandments, which he wrote on two stone tablets.

Listen, all of you, to the voice of God, to the thunder that comes from his mouth.

Then the roar of his voice is heard, the majestic sound of thunder, and all the while the lightning flashes.

Are you as strong as I am? Can your voice thunder as loud as mine?

The voice of the LORD is heard on the seas; the glorious God thunders, and his voice echoes over the ocean.

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, even the cedars of Lebanon.

The voice of the LORD makes the lightning flash.

The LORD's voice shakes the oaks and strips the leaves from the trees while everyone in his Temple shouts, "Glory to God!"

to him who rides in the sky, the ancient sky. Listen to him shout with a mighty roar.

The clouds poured down rain; thunder crashed from the sky, and lightning flashed in all directions.

Father, bring glory to your name!" Then a voice spoke from heaven, "I have brought glory to it, and I will do so again."

The crowd standing there heard the voice, and some of them said it was thunder, while others said, "An angel spoke to him!"

You have not come, as the people of Israel came, to what you can feel, to Mount Sinai with its blazing fire, the darkness and the gloom, the storm,

the blast of a trumpet, and the sound of a voice. When the people heard the voice, they begged not to hear another word,

and called out in a loud voice that sounded like the roar of lions. After he had called out, the seven thunders answered with a roar.

As soon as they spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice speak from heaven, "Keep secret what the seven thunders have said; do not write it down!"
