"He protects the lives of his faithful people, but the wicked disappear in darkness; a man does not triumph by his own strength.

even at noon they grope in darkness.

they grope in the dark and stagger like drunkards.

The light of the wicked will still be put out; its flame will never burn again.

The lamp in their tents will be darkened.

They will be driven out of the land of the living, driven from light into darkness.

The people say, "Now we know why God does not save us from those who oppress us. We hope for light to walk by, but there is only darkness,

and we grope about like blind people. We stumble at noon, as if it were night, as if we were in the dark world of the dead.

Honor the LORD, your God, before he brings darkness, and you stumble on the mountains; before he turns into deep darkness the light you hoped for.

The paths they follow will be slippery and dark; I will make them stumble and fall. I am going to bring disaster on them; the time of their punishment is coming. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!'

"Don't worry about them! They are blind leaders of the blind; and when one blind man leads another, both fall into a ditch."

Jesus answered, "The light will be among you a little longer. Continue on your way while you have the light, so that the darkness will not come upon you; for the one who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.

But if we hate others, we are in the darkness; we walk in it and do not know where we are going, because the darkness has made us blind.
