My heart is pounding, my strength is gone, and my eyes have lost their brightness.

Day and night I cry, and tears are my only food; all the time my enemies ask me, "Where is your God?"

Because of your anger and fury, ashes are my food, and my tears are mixed with my drink. You picked me up and threw me away.

My friends scorn me; my eyes pour out tears to God.

My grief has almost made me blind; my arms and legs are as thin as shadows.

My eyes flow with rivers of tears at the destruction of my people.

"My tears will pour out in a ceaseless stream

Jesus wept.

LORD God, my savior, I cry out all day, and at night I come before you.

Morning, noon, and night my complaints and groans go up to him, and he will hear my voice.

You are my God, so be merciful to me; I pray to you all day long.

If we had stopped worshiping our God and prayed to a foreign god,

Ambassadors will come from Egypt; the Ethiopians will raise their hands in prayer to God.

I lift up my hands to you in prayer; like dry ground my soul is thirsty for you.

The LORD said to me,

Put your heart right, Job. Reach out to God.
