The king ordered all the officials in his service to show their respect for Haman by kneeling and bowing to him. They all did so, except for Mordecai, who refused to do it.

But the midwives were God-fearing and so did not obey the king; instead, they let the boys live.

"Why is it that your disciples disobey the teaching handed down by our ancestors? They don't wash their hands in the proper way before they eat!"

Jesus answered, "And why do you disobey God's command and follow your own teaching?
