O LORD God, you have let me succeed my father as king, even though I am very young and don't know how to rule.

Here I am among the people you have chosen to be your own, a people who are so many that they cannot be counted.

I am going to give you so many descendants that no one will be able to count them all; it would be as easy to count all the specks of dust on earth!

I promise that I will give you as many descendants as there are stars in the sky or grains of sand along the seashore. Your descendants will conquer their enemies.

The descendants of Israel are like the dust--- There are too many of them to be counted. Let me end my days like one of God's people; Let me die in peace like the righteous."
