The prophet Elisha was sick with a fatal disease, and as he lay dying, King Jehoash of Israel went to visit him. "My father, my father!" he exclaimed as he wept. "You have been the mighty defender of Israel!"

He will rescue you if you are innocent, if what you do is right.

A city becomes great when the righteous give it their blessing; but a city is brought to ruin by the words of the wicked.

Wisdom does more for a person than ten rulers can do for a city.

I have always said that wisdom is better than strength, but no one thinks of the poor as wise or pays any attention to what they say.

Wisdom does more good than weapons, but one sinner can undo a lot of good.

The Assyrian emperor has sent his chief official to insult the living God. May the LORD your God hear these insults and punish those who spoke them. So pray to God for those of our people who survive."

and prayed,

Then Isaiah sent a message telling King Hezekiah that in answer to the king's prayer

and said, 'Don't be afraid, Paul! You must stand before the Emperor. And God in his goodness to you has spared the lives of all those who are sailing with you.'

Have any ever mastered heavenly knowledge? Have any ever caught the wind in their hands? Or wrapped up water in a piece of cloth? Or fixed the boundaries of the earth? Who are they, if you know? Who are their children?

After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God.

When the angels went away from them back into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us."

As he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up into heaven.

And no one has ever gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from heaven."

After saying this, he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

And now we sigh, so great is our desire that our home which comes from heaven should be put on over us;

While we live in this earthly tent, we groan with a feeling of oppression; it is not that we want to get rid of our earthly body, but that we want to have the heavenly one put on over us, so that what is mortal will be transformed by life.

As the scripture says, "When he went up to the very heights, he took many captives with him; he gave gifts to people."

Then the two prophets heard a loud voice say to them from heaven, "Come up here!" As their enemies watched, they went up into heaven in a cloud.

Then Job got up and tore his clothes in grief. He shaved his head and threw himself face downward on the ground.

He said, "I was born with nothing, and I will die with nothing. The LORD gave, and now he has taken away. May his name be praised!"

Good people die, and no one understands or even cares. But when they die, no calamity can hurt them.

Those who live good lives find peace and rest in death.

Some devout men buried Stephen, mourning for him with loud cries.
