Then David called one of his men and said, "Kill him!" The man struck the Amalekite and mortally wounded him,

But you, O God, will bring those murderers and liars to their graves before half their life is over. As for me, I will trust in you.

for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others.

David handed them over to the people of Gibeon, who hanged them on the mountain before the LORD ---and all seven of them died together. It was late in the spring, at the beginning of the barley harvest, when they were put to death.

"If someone has been put to death for a crime and the body is hung on a post,

it is not to remain there overnight. It must be buried the same day, because a dead body hanging on a post brings God's curse on the land. Bury the body, so that you will not defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

Abner was buried at Hebron, and the king wept aloud at the grave, and so did all the people.
